Frequently Asked Questions
Q. What services do you provide?
A. As an Advanced Nurse Practitioner, I can offer a range of aesthetic treatments including anti-wrinkle injections and dermal fillers for anyone over the age of 18 for cosmetic purposes. As the treatments become more popular with all groups and genders of society, the need for professional regulation becomes a clear target. I am pleased that M.R. Aesthetics is welcoming of everyone as each treatment plan is individualised.
Q. Are you qualified to perform these treatments?
A. Yes, as an ANP registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council, I am qualified and fully insured to autonomously provide medical aesthetic treatments. I have obtained the required qualifications and certifications to offer injectables and skin rejuvenation procedures via The Harley Academy
Q. Where do you source your products?
A. I only use CE-marked dermal fillers and products from reputable pharmaceutical companies like Allergan and Galderma. As required in the UK, all products meet extremely high safety standards.
Q. Do I need an initial consultation?
A. Yes, it is my policy to provide all new clients with an in-depth consultation before any procedure. This includes discussing your aesthetic goals, medical history, assessing your skin and features, and devising an appropriate customised treatment plan.
Q.What is the aftercare like?
A. I provide detailed post-procedure instructions for care to ensure optimal healing and minimize risks or side effects. I am also available to answer questions or address any concerns that come up after treatments. I schedule follow-ups as needed.
Q.Am I insured to provide treatments from my clinic?
A. Yes, I have full clinical negligence and malpractice coverage to perform aesthetic procedures from my private clinic, as per legal requirements. Client safety is paramount.
Q. Will I look over filled?
A. I understand the concern about looking overfilled after a dermal filler treatment. My approach is to always use an appropriate filler volume and technique to achieve subtle, natural-looking results rather than an artificially plumped or exaggerated appearance.
During your consultation, I will carefully evaluate your facial anatomy and assess the amount of volume loss, taking into consideration the underlying bone structure, muscles, fat pads and overall rejuvenation goals. Based on this assessment, I will determine the precise amount and type of dermal filler best suited to restore - not distort - the youthful contours of your face.
My injection technique aims to support and shape rather than just fill. The filler is strategically placed in small amounts, custom tailored to your unique facial dimensions and natural proportions. This allows the result to integrate seamlessly rather than look abruptly filled.
I blend and smooth the filler gradients to avoid demarcated borders or an abrupt transition between treated and untreated areas. The goal is always a very natural, balanced and proportionate outcome. Let me know if you have any other questions! I'm happy to discuss my techniques for giving patients a refreshed, youthful look while avoiding any overly plumped or filled appearance. Very few patients actually want to remove all the contours in the face. Most of us are glad of the laughter and accept some of the lines that go with experience.
Q.What is the JCCP on your card?
A. The Joint Council Cosmetic Practice has established rigorous certification standards that practitioners must meet in areas like training, safety protocols, proper controlled premises, and having adequate insurance coverage. Choosing a JCCP-certified practitioner helps ensure they meet key benchmarks for safe, ethical practice.
ACE Support Network
The ACE group consists of senior medical experts who voluntarily provide advice and assistance in managing complex cases where patients have experienced complications from aesthetic treatments. They can help assess cases, provide input on further treatment options, and support patient safety.
Open Disclosure Practices JCCP-certified practitioners commit to open disclosure practices and communicating promptly and transparently with patients if unexpected outcomes occur. This supports patient rights and safety when problems emerge.
Complaints Process There are clear complaints procedures patients can follow if they feel a certified practitioner has not met expected standards of care. Complaints trigger formal review procedures through the JCCP.
By choosing a JCCP-certified aesthetic practitioner and having access to the ACE support network, patients gain considerable reassurances and channels for addressing grievances they would lack otherwise. These physician-led organizations aim to promote higher safety, ethical standards and accountability in cosmetic interventions through rigorous certification and expert oversight.
Q. Does it hurt?
A. I understand that pain or discomfort is a top concern for most clients considering aesthetic treatments. I aim to make all treatments here as comfortable and pain-free as possible. I take numerous steps to help reduce any pain or discomfort.
For injectable treatments like dermal fillers or anti-wrinkle injections, I use very fine needles that most clients report cause little more than mild discomfort during the injections. They are much more expensive than ‘normal’ needles but they are also 30% thinner. I combine this with topical numbing creams applied in advance plus gentle injection techniques to maximise comfort. Most clients tolerate our injectable treatments very well with minimal or no pain.
I welcome you to discuss any pain concerns when we meet for your consultation. Determining your comfort level allows me to customise the best approach, including numbing methods, to suit your needs and keep any discomfort minimal. Please let me know if you have any other questions!
